hey man, nice review i was wondering if you could help me, or anyone for that matter lol. I want to get a mac but not sure what to get, its either a macbook pro 13 or the imac 21 inch. Im having trouble deciding. I do a lot of designing and i really want to get into video editing for my snowboarding etc etc. Would the macbook pro be enough to cope with such programes as photoshop and be powerful enough for my video editing?? also how do you find the small screen??

Mine has almost 8 months of use and the only complaints I have are:

    - It has lost some of the magnetism (I think)… It opens very easy… I don’t know if it’s normal.
-The speakers make some “crunchy” noise when the volume is high

I turned on “Tap to Click” to avoid clicking the track pad. I too hate clicing track pads or track pad buttons, although I didn’t find it noisy or obnoxious.

The best feature of any MacBook is the Multi-Touch trackpad, This is the feature which can sell the computer IMO.

We have an iMac lab at school that’s been around for a little under two years now, and let me tell you, those aluminum keyboards are pretty gross-looking. Don’t get me wrong, I love the keyboards, but the yellowish grime that’s built up over time has made using them a little disheartening. That being said, this is probably a worst-case scenario; that is, a bunch of unhygienic high schoolers using them for near 6 hours a day straight. Just do yourself a favor and wash your hands once in a while..

Your speculations on RAM were accurate (4GB would be a good idea), more essential, un-upgradeable components would deter me from using a Macbook for image and video editing. For example, the graphics card in the baseline Macbook is, frankly, lacking. You can upgrade to a card with twice the memory in the Pro models. Also, processing speed may be a problem if you’re rendering video, an area which the (overpriced) Pro shines. You may want to wait for quad core Macbooks, if you’re an avid user.

I think you actually set that up during the initial setup but to change it go to – System Preferences>Accounts (under the System tab) and change the user name, if this doesn’t do it I’m not how to. Hope this helps.

yes it has the same DVD drive as the 2.4 so it will play DVDs. also the isight is no different from the one on the 2.4 i have the aluminium 2.4 the camera is good for a webcam, but if you want to record stuff in very high quality get a seperate camera.

it means it has a better processor, basically the whole computer runs all of its processes faster than say the 2.0. If you have the cash, go with the 2.4, if not, go with the smaller one, you only really need to the 2.4 if you are going to be running very consuming software and progams, you will not actually notice a lot of the difference between the two conducting simple operations.

i know this may sound stupid but does the 2.0 version have a dvd player preinstalled into the macbook? also, does that mean the webcam(isight?) have good resolution? like clear clear?

yes, the 2.4GHz MacBook should be more than capable of running those apps with just a stock config (i.e. with 2GB of RAM), though you may want to eventually upgrade to a 7200rpm HDD and 4GB of RAM for optimal performance.

when you got your macbook, and when you go on finder did the icon with the house already say “user” or could you customize it to name it after you?
because whenever i look on finder and the house on the sidebar says “user” but i want it to title it by my name?
is that icon from yours the same name (which is the house one that says “user” for me)

my keyboard after 5 months shines too. I thougth my hands are dirty but i seems this is normal.
And the second thing ist that the keyboard feeling is getting worse. Not bad but cheaper. I have the alu bluethoot keyboard and i liked this one more.

So yeah i agree with all you points! Great vid!

Hey, great update. Really useful to have a post 5 month review.
Just one thing though, the 9400M GPU is actually an integrated solution. It doesn’t actually have it’s own 256Mb of RAM it borrows it from your 2Gb, (imo nVidia are the worst at naming), hence the sub desktop card performance. Although if you’re comparing the 9400M to the desktop version, laptop versions are usually slightly weaker due to size and heat issues.
Anyhow, congrats on the purchase sounds like you’re enjoying it.

cool video…but about the trackpad, if the clicking noise gets on your nerves you can just go into system preferences and change it so that all you have to do is just tap the trackpad instead of clicking on it…ive had mine on that setting since like december and i love it.

    how to unlock iphone 4

I’ve been to all the sites to help out with removing the program however they all request that I change the LAN settings. I do this but seconds later they get automatically changed back. Whenever I open a file the message: “Application cannot be executed… file is infected” Therefore I am unable to run any programs such as Task Manager in order to counter this virus. Can someone please help me out because it seems I am defenseless. Thankyou

I deleted norton virus since my account already expired. So I borrowed my brother’s Mcafee and installed it to my computer. I tried getting on the Internet but when I do the page connection says cannot be connected. So I checked the signal strength and it says ” very good” but it’s still not connected? I share a router that is located in my sister’s room which is like 10 ft away, and her computer is working just fine with the Internet. But I can’t get on because it says ” enter http in the address”. I try to diganose and repair it say “no problems detected”… I don’t understand what can be blocking me from the Internet. Oh ya d the firewalls are not up and I have windows vista. Can somebody help me please? Thanks! unlock iphone 4
